If Fashion Doesn’t Exist In Vermont Then Why Is Everyone Starting To Dress Like Us?

Hippies and “crunchy” style are nothing new in Vermont. But, in my lifetime,  it has never really been considered high fashion. Birkenstocks were saved for English teachers and workwear was worn by adults who worked with their hands. Flannel had a resurgence in the 90s due to grunge, which was fun for all of us kids in Vermont who already had them and probably confusing for older Vermonters who had been wearing them all along. And Carhartt had a rise in the 80s in Hip Hop. But, never have I witnessed the space we are now.

My favorite way to take on a new season is to play mix and match with items in my wardrobe and create as many outfits as possible. I remember countless hours of my childhood playing “dress up” out of my own closet. How can I wear my hot pink kitty sweatshirt with my bright blue high top Reeboks?

Should I KonMari my Wardrobe?

By now you have probably heard of Marie Kondo, author of “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing” and creator of the “KonMari” organization method. I believe that we should start being more careful about clutter and about the items we allow in our lives. Because whether we want to accept it or not, things weigh heavily on our souls.

Hiking Boots: The More Retro the Better.

Back in the late 90’s my boyfriend (now hubby) wanted to climb Camel’s Hump with me. He used to work on the mountain and was an avid hiker. I had hiked, you know, a few times and mostly in sneakers. So, before the big day, I headed to an outdoor gear store and bought some hiking boots. They looked very much like the ones that Reese Witherspoon wore in Wild. You know, the brown leather ones with the red laces. I took them out of the box and slapped them on my hopeful feet on the day of our climb.

Leopard Love? 10 Ways to Wear Leopard Today.

One of my favorite things to do is to take a trend and adapt it to a Vermont life. This fall, I’ve seen many trends crop up, but the most intriguing to me is leopard print.

Some feel it is a print worn best by their grandmas in New Jersey. To be perfectly honest, I think they all have a point.

The First Post

You know what is the worst?* Having to sum up your life and dreams in a blog post. I refuse. I straight-up won’t do it. However, every blog must have the dreaded first post and this, my friends, is it.

So, someone suggested to me that I should sit down and write for 30 minutes, revise for 15 and then just hit post. She is nuts**, but also a professional life coach, so I listen.
