3 Casual Go-To Looks For Men This Summer

Men’s fashion gets a bad rap. Few people feel comfortable analyzing the details of a stylish men’s outfit, but everyone seems to appreciate it when it is done right.

Maybe you are a guy that needs a little inspiration. Or, maybe you are looking for a Father’s Day gift? Either way, here are three (and one bonus!) casual go-to looks for men this summer.

Short sleeve button-up + Chinos + Casual Sneakers

The key to this look is the fit and styling. The shirt and chinos should be fitted, but not tight. The sleeves hit the bicep and the chinos are rolled to show a bit of ankle. Add a woven leather belt and leather band watch. Walking sneakers (not gym sneaks) or boat shoes finish of the casual vibe.

Short Sleeve Henley + Fitted, Flat Front Shorts + Casual Sneakers

I love a great fitting henley on a man. It is a little dressier than a t-shirt, but feels rugged and outdoorsy. Perfect for Vermont. Black is the most versatile color. It goes day to night with ease. (Tip: Pair with dark wash jeans for a casual night time look.) In this outfit, the black henley is paired with fitted flat front shorts. No pleats, no cargo pockets. You can roll them or leave them unrolled. A belt is not necessary for this outfit, so add a little interest with a woven rope or leather bracelet on the opposite hand of your watch. Walking sneakers or boat shoes would both work for this look.

Long Sleeve Linen Shirt + Flat Front Shorts + Boat Shoes

Linen is breathable, comfortable and classy, but many people avoid it because of the wrinkles. The secret to linen is that as long as placket (the double layers of fabric that hold the buttons and buttonholes in a shirt) and the collar is pressed, the rest of the shirt can have overall light wrinkling and look amazing. To keep the look casual, roll the sleeves. Pair with flat front shorts, watch and boat shoes.

BONUS LOOK

Denim Jacket + Black Tee + Black Slim Fit Jeans + Black Casual Logo Sneakers

If the above three looks feel a little too "Dadish" for you, this is one of my favorite street style mens' looks. I love it because it so easy and very flattering to most body types. The head to toe black slims and the denim jacket gives structure to the upper half and enhances the shoulders. The accessories are key: dark band watch, bracelet with black accents, black logo sneakers and black wayfarer sunglasses. Alternate look: Up the sportiness by swapping out the jeans with black joggers/athletic pants and wearing white sneakers.
